PAINTING PROCEDURE FOR EPOXY RESIN BASED PAINTS 

(1) Clean with wire brush and water paper ( No. 220 & 320 ) to remove all the rust and other foreign materials. 

(2) Carry out cold / hot phosphate employing 9 tank process. (2a) Or Go through Blasting using sand/iron shots/glass shots/copper grit/steel grit.     

(3) Clean the material surface with dry soft cloth and compressed air to remove loose particles and then clean with soft fine cloth dipped in epoxy thinner. 

(4) Apply 1 coat of epoxy primer (As per party’s req.) Viscosity – 25 to 30 seconds. Air pressure for spraying - 2.5 to 3 kg/cm Pot life – 5 to 6 hours at ambient temperature. After mixing base and catalyst, the mixture should be allowed to mature for 30 minutes before being used. After spraying 1 coat of primer allow the primer to dry at ambient temp. For 3-5 hours minimum.     

(5) Or Stove the primer coat in oven at the temperature of 100 deg. C to 110 deg. C for 45 minutes. Allow the object to cool to room temperature.     

(6)  Apply putty (only if required). Epoxy base putty is recommended. No other type of putty should be applied. If putty is applied, it should be allowed to dry for 16 hours or stove it as per step 5. Alternatively epoxy base putty can be prepared by mixing whiting powder as required to the epoxy enamel paint. 

(7)   Clean all the surfaces with water paper No. 220 / 320. Clean with water and dry with compressed air. Then clean with fine cloth dipped in epoxy thinner. After mixing base and catalyst of epoxy enamel paint, the mixture should be allowed to mature for 30 minutes before being used. Apply first coat of covering paint shade as per customer’s requirement. Dry the coat at ambient temperature for a minimum period of 6 hours. Or Stove the covering coat in oven at the temperature of 100 deg. C to 110 deg. C for 45 minutes. Allow the object to cool to room temperature.     

 

(8)  Repeat the process of step (7) to apply the second coat of the final paint.
